Dollar Tree is my favorite place to purchase things to help me spruce up my home is Dollar Tree.

This blog is going to outline some of the best products Dollar Tree sells that are going to help you fill up those cracks near your window, cover those little holes and your walls from hanging a picture, and other helpful tips to make over your home on a budget.

Painting a wall

Painting a wall is an easy and inexpensive way to update a room. It can be a great way to introduce a new color palette or to create a dramatic focal point.

Take your time when selecting a color, as it can make a huge impact on the overall look and feel of the room.

You'll also want to make sure you have the proper supplies, such as primer, paint, drop cloths, and brushes or rollers. Start by painting the edges of the wall with a brush and then use a roller for the larger areas.

Once the painting is complete, you can add some fun finishing touches like trim or wall decals to complete the look.

Tool bench plastic paint tray

This pain tray is really heavy-duty. It is made with very thick plastic, so if it does fall from a distance, it will not crack or break very easily.

I like that if I had any type of dried paint on there, I could easily scrape it up if I let it all dry 100%, and you can always use a solution to remove it without damaging the paint tray overall.

Fill In Those Nail Holes

Absolutely! Filling nail holes is an important step in any home improvement project.

Not only does it make the walls look smoother and more even, but it can also help protect your walls from further damage. It's important to use the right type of spackle or caulk to fill the holes, as this will ensure the best results.

Additionally, when you're finished filling the holes, it's important to sand them down to create a smooth finish. Doing this can make the walls look like new!

Lightweight spackling

I have not purchased spackling from anywhere since I discovered how great this works on any and everything DIY related.

Of course, you can use this to cover those small holes you may see in your wall from a picture being hung, but you can also use it to cover your baseboards if damaged to make them smooth to paint over again.

I have even mixed this with water and some coloring to add different textures on surfaces for a DIY project.  And this can be smeared on a canvas to give it some texture to make your own custom home decor wall art.

Prep Before Painting

Painters tape is a great tool for any paint project! It can help you get a crisp and precise line along edges, corners, and trim.

It also helps keep paint off of surfaces that you don't want to get paint on. When using painter's tape, make sure to clean the surface you are taping to ensure the best adhesion.

It is also important to apply the tape firmly and press down the edges so that the paint does not seep underneath. After finishing painting, immediately remove the tape to prevent the paint from drying on the tape.

Following these steps will help you achieve a professional-looking paint job with painter's tape!

Painters tape

Full disclosure this is not the stickiest of painters' tape, but if you prep your area first before applying this, it will work flawlessly.

I understood once I opened the package that this was not going to work when I painted my walls, but I realized I needed to make sure my wall was free and clean of dirt and debris and other things that would not allow this to stick properly.

Once I did that, I never had a problem using this for painting my walls or any other DIY project.

The one thing I like so much about this payment tape is that it is wide, which is very useful when painting.

Paint Rollers Are A Must

Painting with a roller is a great way to get a smooth, even finish on walls and other surfaces.

To get the best results, make sure to use the right roller for the job. Choose a roller with a nap (the length of its fibers) that matches the type of paint you’re using.

For a smooth finish, use a short nap roller with glossy or semi-gloss paints. For textured walls, use a medium or long nap roller. When painting, be sure to cover the roller with paint completely before rolling it onto the wall.

You may also want to roll the paint onto a tray before applying it to the wall. This will help ensure an even application. Once the roller is loaded, start at the top of the wall and work your way down in a W shape.

This will help prevent the edges from drying too quickly. With a little practice, you’ll be able to get professional-looking results with your paint roller!

9-inch nap roller

These rollers can complete any painting project, sometimes even better than the name-brand ones I received at Home Depot.

You must get some tape to take off all of the little flurries on there before using it, and I have also had to do this on name-brand rollers.

I used to work at Sherwin-Williams, and I realized it was no point in always paying a lot of money for these rollers that you would typically throw away when you're done anyway, so why not buy some at a lower price point that still gives you great coverage when you are painting a wall.

The paint is the most important part of painting anyway, not the roller most times.

Paint Trim Cups Are Useful

Absolutely!

This trim cup is really convenient and helpful when you are painting little things and also your trim.

I use this for many reasons and not even for painting because sometimes you need a little bucket of water when you are going around and doing your Caulking, and this is really handy.

The handle is the right size of the overall depth of this is perfect for using it for painting and having a lot of paint to get the job done quickly versus consistently needing to refill up.

Foam paint brushes

This variety pack of foam paint brushes is really helpful and useful for home decor and DIY projects.

These are not the sturdiest, especially the foam piece, as I realized you shouldn't clobber a bunch of paint on these as they will not work properly and become limp.

You need to make sure you are using up all the paint on the actual foam tip before adding any more to prevent it from weighing down and bending at the end from the weight of the paint.

Once I understood that I have not had any problems with these for any project I have encountered.

I always recommend everyone check out Dollar Tree before tackling a home DIY project to save money.

They may not have everything you need, but they pretty much will help you narrow down that list so that you're not spending as much overall.
