Say goodbye to the laundromat if you are a renter or an apartment dweller.

Some affiliate links are listed, which means I may receive a commission should you decide to click that link and make a purchase.

Will you get your first place as a renter? You are overly joyed to finally be on your own, but then it hits you that you have to deal with the laundromat.

Now, depending upon what your apartment complex is like, you could have the best or the worst laundromat.

Let's not forget how laundromat etiquette does not exist because people will remove your clothes when you are not around while still soaking wet just to use the same machine.

A portable washing machine will be your best bet to avoid all that comes with dealing with the laundromat.  The best part is these machines come in various sizes, and they are super easy to operate.

How do portable washing machines work, and will my clothes get really clean?

Some portable washing machines can also be connected like a standard size washer.

Still, a portable washing machine's advantages are for people who do not have a specific laundry location like most apartments or rental homes.

You need to wash clothes, and you can roll this into your bathroom or into your kitchen and then took it away in a closet when you're done.

Some come with an inlet hose, which you will attach to your water faucet to allow water to enter the unit. Other washers have a separate hot and cold inlet hose like a standard washing machine as well.

Like a standard washing machine, these portable machines do not dry your clothes as you need a portable dryer for that; however, they do spin dry all of the water from your clothes so you can hang them up to dry.

Two major essential factors you must remember when owning and operating a portable washing machine is you need to manually clean out the lint traps from the unit, and you need to ensure that you have the washer near a sink that will be able to connect with the outgoing dirty water hose so that you can drain your clothes.

With this machine, you must always think "less is more," and if it looks like enough, it's already too much. A decent load, to measure, is whatever can fit in the spin basket plus one extra, light thing. When the wash cycle is going, you want to see a vortex... a whirlpool effect. If your clothes are floating and spinning at the top, struggling to be washed, you've overloaded. Pull out items one by one until you get that whirlpool.

You can spin and wash at the same time. The spinner drains, regardless of the middle knob, is set to drain, and if you overfill the washtub, it will drain whatever overflows. Plan this accordingly.

Noise is comparable to an AC unit, and vibrations are depending on where you place it and how level it is. I use a sponge balance and absorb some vibrations. Not fancy, but it works.

Honestly, it is worth the money. But it’s kind of a pain to drain and make sure it is leveled or on a rug when using the spin cycle because it will be loud and move everywhere, lol. It is perfect for apartments or just small homes.
The clothes come out almost dry from the spin cycle. My clothes only needed like an hour to dry. The nose isn’t too bad; if you leave it in the room with the door shut, you cannot hear it.

It's great for small spaces. It's easy to use, fantastic for small loads, or if you have a new baby where you continuously have to do laundry, which is why I gifted it to my daughter and her newborn son after I used it several times prior... I set mine up on two crates, so it's taller for me. I purchased the boxes from Home Depot, and I drained the water after the wash rinse and spin cycles in the bathtub. I bought a rinseroo slip-on shower hose as well. I found it easier to fill The washer straight from the showerhead. It's very quiet, and it spins the clothes almost dry, then you just hang them. You don't need a lot of detergents; I use softener as well in the rinse cycle. If you live in an apartment and you don't have hookups, or you have to go to the laundry facility or room, why bother, especially in these challenging times with the Covid pandemic? Just takes a little effort and it's convenient all done in your own home this is a must-have essential purchase; you won't regret it.

Vague instructions. But overall a very good washer. For large loads, I use a shot glass of detergent. And 4 caps of bleach for white clothes. After wash, you have to drain and then do a rinse cycle for 7-10 min. You can add your fabric softener at this time. It doesn't need to be rinsed out unless you have sensitive skin. Washer drains better when elevated. If washing delicate clothes, be weary; this washer is very powerful; however, it is possible if you wash for. 1 minute let soak 5 minutes and then let's spin again for another minute and do a very short rinse cycle; it is possible, but you still might possibly damage your clothes. But if you hand wash your clothes, you can always use the spinner to dry them.

Great for small spaces! I have done over 10 loads since I purchased this item. It’s simple to use and has all the functions that I was looking for. It has 10 different settings, from normal to a simple spin. I connect it to my bathroom sink, and I definitely recommend purchasing a dolly to set it on. It has made transporting it from the bathroom to my storage closet with ease. It works well, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a compact washer.

This is a wonderful little washer with great customer support. Giantex was so nice and accommodating that I just had to write a full review. I had a problem with the drain pump working off and on after two weeks of light use. Giantex responded to my complaint quickly and professionally and had me a replacement sent out the next day. The washers were packed really well, the second unit was shipped upside down (hard to find good help these days), but no damage to the washer whatsoever.

Pros (There are so many, but I am only listing a few that weren't mentioned by the manufacturer):

• Discrete packaging (does not mention that it is a washing machine).
• The drain hose location is designed to be reversible (optional).
• Has individual wash, rinse, spin settings (I like to run the wash cycle once and let the clothes soak awhile in the soapy water, then use the normal setting that will wash, rinse, and spin).

Cons (not really any, but just a few nitpicks)

This washing machine is a dream! I even named her "Betty."
There are several cycles. I have used the rapid cycle (19 minutes) and the full cycle (40 minutes). After I connect the hose, I turn the machine on and select the cycle. I press start. It starts to pull in the water. I have to put the faucet on for it to pull in the water. The machine stops pulling in the water automatically through a sensor once the appropriate water level has been achieved. It then starts its agitation. At this time, I turn the sink faucet off. The machine does its thing and then discharges all the water into my kitchen sink through the hose. It then wants to put water into the machine again. The machine will pause indefinitely until I turn on the faucet for it to fill itself again. It then repeats the cycle.

With that said, having owned Betty for a couple months now, I would not hesitate to purchase her for the full price of $250 because the ease of use and quality of the machine do seem to make it worth the price.

I started working from home recently, and live alone, so not needing a lot of outerwear, I don't generate a lot of dirty laundry anymore. I figured that I'd look in to something like this as an alternative to a laundromat since I hate those places and get expensive. This washer didn't disappoint! It cleans well, is very quiet (I thought these were loud based on some reviews), and fits in a closet when done (I use it in the bathtub, which makes it easier to fill and drain). I'd recommend using a bucket to fill it, as the hoses are not anything resembling proper connections. It's labor intensive since you manually have to switch things around for a rinse cycle, but it's a small price to pay for the convenience.

I wasn’t super sure what to expect. Our wash machine had been broken for months. This thing was SO loud and shook like crazy while “running” it was also somewhat messy to release the water due to the way the hose is set up. It did get clothes clean.
