Polyurethane on contact paper on floors WORKS! | Shanetta DIY Life

As a DIYer, I found myself experimenting with a lot of things that I actually record when I make my Youtube videos.  If you're unfamiliar with my channel, you can check it out here.

This flooring project came out of pure desperation because I did not want to spend much money on new flooring, nor did I want to hire anybody because those prices are outrageous.  I am a lover of Dollar Tree, even though now everything is $1.25,  I always came across their contact paper section, and this wood grain pattern caught my eye.

Because of the realistic look, it dawned on me that this would be perfect to put on the floor in my basement.  So I purchased everything they had in the actual store, and I wound up purchasing two boxes online.

This pattern has been out of stock for over 3 years, and I have finally found it again on dollartree.com.  This dark wood grain contact paper looks so real.

The step-by-step process

Here is the video I shot a few years ago on doing this process step by step.

Now, if this is an intimidating project, please don't because if you know how to paint a wall, you can definitely do this as well.

I decided to record myself doing my entire floor, so feel free to skip through the video and look at the actual products I use at the very end.

If you're not a subscriber, please do so because I love to bring new DIY projects that I have tried.

How to remove polyurethane on the floor.

Now, this process is not permanent; you are able to remove it.  In my video, I only applied one coat of polyurethane on top of the contact paper for the purpose of me being able to remove it when I was ready for a new floor.

Here is the video

I hope my videos and this Blog have helped you get some insight into what you want to do for your floor in your home.
